6 Best Learnings from Bhagavad Gita

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is not only a Hindu holy book, but it is a life lesson that we got from Lord Krishna when a war between Pandavas and Kauravas was about to begin on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. At that time, Krishna advised Pandavas, prince Arjun, to clear his doubts about the war.

Even today, whenever we face life difficult situations, those lessons are as important and showing the right direction to us as they were for Arjun during the war of Mahabharata.

Here I am sharing 6 Lessons from Bhagavad gita:

1. Concentrate on your goals, do your work and do not focus on the result

Bhagavad gita learning 1

When a person starts a task, he is initially concerned about the outcome. As a result, he is unable to focus on his work and produces work of inferior quality. As a result, he does not achieve his goal. If you want a 100% result, you must first work with 100% devotion, according to Krishna.

When you focus on rewards, you are more likely to be concerned about failure and depressed if the outcome is not favorable. To achieve your goals, the Bhagavad Gita recommends focusing on the process.

2. Nothing is Permanent in this World

Bhagavad gita learning 2

Bhagavad Gita communicates a very powerful and important message that nothing is permanent in this life.

Like seasons are temporary in nature, similarly, pain and pleasure are impermanent. Tough times will come and go; learn to tolerate them without being affected by them. The only thing that is constant is change.

Ups and downs, difficult times and situations will come and go in life. Be patient and learn to tolerate them without becoming affected by them.

3. Don’t be controlled by your Desire

Bhagavad gita learning 3

All desires, feelings and thoughts are born out of mind which leads to attachment, a cause of anger. Desire and anger are the greatest enemies of a person. As a human being, you are prone to having desires. Yet you should neither suppress your desire nor let it control your life and mind. According to the Bhagavad Gita, desires are bound to come.

So having a desire is not a problem, but one should have full control over that desire. Be aware of what you really desire. Gita explains a justifiable and right way to fulfill desire by discovering yourself.

It helps you to understand and manage your desires, emotions, taking right decisions and actions.

4. Face your Fears Bravely

Bhagavad gita learning 4

The achievement will hold no value if you have fear in your mind. Fear, in other words, means doubt in your abilities. It will not only make you forget the goals out of fear but will also make you worthless, but in the case of fearless souls, the sky is the limit.

Fear, according to the Bhagavad Gita, is a material illusion, and our true focus should be on fulfilling our duties during our limited time on this planet. Lord Krishna instructs a weak and trembling Arjun not to abandon his duty because of material fears.

Fear of failure and respect for yourself are the two obstacles to reaching your goals. Gita advises facing your fears bravely.

5. Your life is based on your Beliefs

Bhagavad gita learning 5

You are what you think you are. Your thoughts make and define you. If you think of being happy even in times of failure, you will be happy. If you let revenge take over your mind even in times of success, you harbor negative impressions.

Having positive thoughts helps you achieve a balanced perspective, stay confident, overcome negative notions, prepare well to meet challenges, and channel your energy to achieve your goals. So, do not let negative thoughts take over your mind and ruin your chances.

6. Don’t doubt your Abilities

Bhagavad gita 6

Doubting oneself is the first step toward self-destruction. We humans generally have little idea of what we are capable of because we limit ourselves by comparing our successes with others, by thinking we are not good enough, or by confining ourselves to social standards.

We fail to understand that our abilities, beliefs, and goals should matter most to us. Doubting ourselves will not only hinder the journey to success but will also lead to not realizing our full potential. So, don’t doubt yourself or your abilities.

3 ways to increase your value – How to become Valuable

You see, while success is great, to become a valuable person is even better. Success will not just happen. Values are a significant aspect of success. Success increases when you provide greater value to others. Therefore, you should focus on increasing your value rate rather than trying to increase your success rate.

Everything you hope to accomplish depends totally on the value you provide. People will value you according to the value you provide for them. When someone doesn’t respect you, don’t become furious. Based on the worth you possess, the majority of people would respond to you.

Here I am sharing 3 ways to Increase your Value – This will change how you see things:

1. Value your Time

value your time

If you don’t value your own time, why should anyone else? Why would your time be considered valuable if you allow others to consume it whenever and however they please? And why would you consider your own time valuable if you spend it largely on activities that have little to no value?

You need to improve how you spend your time in order to add more value to your life and be seen as someone of value (both to yourself and to others).

Because time is your most valuable asset, you cannot freely give it away to others. It prevents you from putting your own wants and needs first. It’s like making deposits in everyone else’s bank accounts but never in your own.

Here are a few ways you’re signaling to others that your time isn’t valuable:

You say “yes” to everything, not having your priorities aligned, You’re on-call 24/7, Not sticking to your time limits. Take note of what signals you are giving to others and make necessary changes so your time is valued.

2. Improve your Capabilities

Work on your capabilities

Your Knowledge, your skills, your Progress has a lot to do with how others will see you. Improving your Skillset meaning continously learning, growing and expanding yourself out of your current zone.

You can improve your capabilities at any given time, if you are not sure what they are. Reflect your life and think what things you have accomplished, what you are good at and what needs work.

  • First, Seek Your Skills

What are the things you know how to do? There may be some skills you don’t even know you have, like technical skills, administrative skills, or other small things you’ve picked up over the years.

  • Second, Find Your Strengths

What are you good at? What are your talents? These are the areas you’ll want to work on the most, so you can be even better at them and stand out from the crowd.

Also determine where your strong points don’t lie. You then have two options: you can work on your weaknesses, or you can enhance other areas to support these weaknesses. Both options are respectable ones and will help you increase your value.

3. Keep your Promises

keep your promises by romil

Do you like people who often don’t keep their promises? Do you respect them or like to deal with them?

People often think they are smart when they fool others or break others promises but it slowly becomes a pattern which becomes a part of your personality. And we don’t want to be around people who aren’t the one to stick to their promises.

While not everytime people break promises intentionally and we as emotional creature understand this. But done on regular basis can seriously harm your Image.

It’s a Professional commitment, DO IT. It’s a Personal Priority, DO IT. Try your very best to follow through with your commitments and when you do complete those, your Self Image becomes better. You fill yourself with Confidence and importantly you win others trust, respect and increase value.

Bonus Point: Always Think, Talk and Search about Solutions
solutions to increase your value

“Where you attention goes Energy Focus” such a powerful quote by Tony Robbins. Have you encountered someone who always talk about his/ her problems all the time? This person always have something to complain for and you will always want to distant yourself from such people who radiate negativity. The same thing will happen with you as well, when you just talk about problems.

There are always 2 sides of coin, the thing is where do you want to focus. Do you want to be on the green side or Red side?

Whenever Talking about challenges always think in aspect of providing realistic solution. Think about solution, search about solution, talk about solutions and see how valuable you become among your colleges, Boss, clients even among your family members.

Its just a matter of your perspective and focus. When you start thinking of ways to make things possible, you will start getting amazing ideas and solution will start appearing. Also you will start attracting positive people around you. Next time before you speak something negative, just think how positivity can you add by your conversation.

Balloon Man – Story that will inspire you

There was a man who made his living selling balloons at a beach. He was center of attraction for the small kids, who were coming to beach along with their families.

The balloon seller used to sell balloons of many different colors, including red, yellow, blue, orange, pink, violet and green. He knew how well the different colors attract the children.

Whenever the business used to get slow, he had a wonderful strategy to boost his sales. What the balloon seller used to do is to release a helium-filled balloon into the air. When the children saw the colorful balloon go up, they all wanted one.

They would come up to him with parents, buy a balloon and his sales would go up.

One day, when his balloon sales were low, and he used the same strategy. As expected, the balloon man felt someone tugging at his jacket. He turned around and found a little boy smiling towards him adopted the same strategy.

The balloon seller asked him, “Which color balloon do you want?” The innocent little boy looked towards helium-filled balloon into the air and asked with a curiosity , “If you release a black balloon, will that also fly?”

Moved by the cute little boy’s concern, the balloon man replied gently, “My dear son, it is not the color of the balloon, it is what’s inside that makes it go up.”

It’s what’s inside that counts. Your inner beliefs, core values and principles, character and attitude which defines how successful you will be in life.

It’s inner beauty that counts not the outer one. The caste, skin color or religion does not matter in success.

Study the traits of successful people and emulate them

Successful people

What are the traits of successful people? This question has been asked for decades and many books have been written on this interesting topic.

When you think of success, you immediately think of certain people. Perhaps they are individuals such as Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Mukesh Ambani or Amitabh bachchan. However, the frenzy around these people can be so loud that you become confused about what it takes to be successful.

While each successful person takes a different approach. There are many common patterns that can be discovered by reading their books, watching interviews and lectures.

This article will help you understand what separates success from failure, guiding you toward your own goals. Here I am sharing 7 things successful people do.

1. Growth Mindset

Growth mindset

According to Carol Dweck’s research, people with growth mindsets are more likely to succeed. The growth mindset increases one’s motivation, willingness, and overall foundation of belief in order to achieve bigger and better results. Our beliefs, conscious or unconscious, can either push us to become better or hold us back from making progress.

Growth-oriented people understand that the harder they work, the more persistence, and positive attitude in the face of adversity, the more successful they will be.

Fortunately, as long as you are aware of your personal growth and determined to change your mindset, your behaviors will not remain static. Begin with simple traits such as changing bad habits and focusing on the process rather than the results. Sometimes the key to success is overcoming a problem rather than giving up on it.

2. Focused on area of expertise

area of expertise

I read about specialized knowledge from the Book “Think and Grow Rich”. When I compared what is said in books with really successful people; I found it relevant.

It’s good to know everything, but it’s better to be a master in a particular skill set; that is your expertise.

Napoleon identifies two types of knowledge: specialized and general. Understanding the differences between the two is essential. In public schools and universities, general knowledge is taught. However, specialization is gained through experience or mentoring.

Focus on becoming an expert in a sector where you will be referred to as the go-to person.

3. Role Models

Role models

Having role models in our lives is extremely important, and having good role models is even more important. Because they influence what we do and how we eventually turn out.

Positive role models have an impact on our actions and inspire us to strive to discover our true potential and overcome our weaknesses.

All great leaders, athletes, and achievers have one thing in common. They all had positive role models whom they tried to emulate in some way and eventually outperformed.

Read Biographies, Parents & grandparents are your early role models learn from their lives, from their stories. Have multiple role models for specific fields for health, for life guidance, for business; you can learn a lot from your role models.

4. Passion

Passion

Every passionate person may not achieve that level of success until other practical aspects align. But every successful person you will encounter is extremely passionate about what they do, and this is not by chance.

People are more resilient when faced with obstacles when they are filled with enthusiasm and passion. People who are passionate about what they do, rather than just “in it for the money,” tend to have more positive outlooks and are better at problem-solving.

Furthermore, the more enthusiastic a person is about their job, the more likely they are to work hard on self-improvement, increasing their chances of success.

Get passionate about what you do or do what you are passionate about. By doing this you will be one step closer to a magnificent success.

5. Not Afraid of Failing

Not afraid of failing

One thing every great success had is failure and not once but many failure and then they arrived at the success. To arrive at the success one needs to be brave enough to handle failures.

According to a recent survey conducted by social media, 31% of the 1,083 adults surveyed feel depressed because of the fear of failure.

People frequently cite fear of failure as a reason for not taking action or making necessary changes to achieve the goals they have set for themselves.

Successful people fail all the time but they aren’t afraid of trying. They consider the cost of doing nothing, they focus on how great it will be when they succeed even make a backup plan if things go wrong. So take the necessary steps toward your goals.

6. Believe in self improvement

Self improvement for successful people

A desire for success is accompanied by a desire for self-improvement.

Self-improvement allows you to develop in a variety of ways. It can help you develop new beliefs and discover new and better ways of doing things. Growing in these and other ways provides you with the tools you need to succeed in other areas of your life.

Because no perfect being exists, everyone must make do with some degree of self-improvement. Self-improvement is essential to being the best person you can be and living a successful life.

Success is not determined by the approval of others. It is determined by your own beliefs. The important thing is whether you think you have succeeded.

Through self-improvement practice, you can gradually learn to live your life as an individual who does not judge their success by any other standard than their own.

7. Extraordinary Willpower

Extraordinary willpower

I’ve always found that avoiding something simply because you’re not comfortable with it turns it into a monster. Overcoming that fear requires a lot of willpower and success requires you to show your willpower.

Willpower has an impact on every aspect of your life. It can help you with everything from exercising to saving money. In fact, willpower may be more important than IQ in predicting success.

A lot depends on your ability to resist the urge. Your willpower influences everything you do. Your choices and your willpower determine every thought and every word you think or say.

Willpower is a beast to which you must pay attention. The more self-control you can develop, the easier it will be to gain confidence. You will realize that you can remain the person you want to be in the face of temptation.

Conclusion: Every individual possesses the necessary elements for success; it is simply a matter of acquiring the qualities described in the article to truly win your life.

Here’s a way how to achieve your goals faster

Achieve goals faster

Are you working towards a specific goal? Do you want to achieve your goals faster?

According to a survey, only 4% of people in the world have goals. Isn’t it surprising?

So, if you have a goal, then certainly you are in these 4% and the possibility is absolutely there that you will eventually achieve it as well.

The two important questions are why the majority of people don’t have goals. Aren’t they working towards something they really want? Absolutely they are, but their idea of goal is so general and unrealistic that it isn’t a goal itself.

Another thing is how to check if the goals we are working towards are right for us? And how to make things faster…

I have been a keen observer and curious learner about how people actually set and achieve their goals and you will be surprised to know mostly the goals people set aren’t theirs but from the environment (parents, teachers, social media).

Goal Quote by Romil

Think of the goal you are working towards and where it came from and you will understand what I am saying.

There is absolutely no problem if a goal reference is from external, but if it is not validated by your side to match your vision, then possibly you will give up or even after achieving those goals you won’t feel happy.

Here I am sharing 4 steps to set the right goals and achieve your goals faster.

A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.”

— Bo Bennett

1. Write Your Goals

Write your goals

Our mind by nature is very fluctuating. One moment you have one thought, another moment it’s different. And if the same is applied to our goals, it will be challenging to set goals.

Had it happened to you that you changed your goal many times and were finally confused about what to do?

If you want to achieve any goal, you need to be dedicated to that specific goal for a longer time. It needs patience, it needs determination and, more than that, you need to select the right goal.

What can be a better way than writing it down?

According to a survey, only 3% of people were able to actually achieve their goals because these people write their goals. Writing goals increase your chance by 42% that you will achieve them.

Very simple and effective technique: For the next seven days, write down your seven goals for the day, with a twist. You are not required to refer to previous goals when writing your goals (this is important).

On the eighth day, go through all of your goals and just tick the ones you’ve done the most. Choose the top three goals. Without a doubt, these are the objectives you should strive for.

2. Clarity of goal

Clarity of goal

You have cleared the first crucial step, now you have selected 3 goals you want to be dedicated towards.

Perhaps you have had similar experiences. Can you recall what triggered you to give up a goal?

Yes, its failure or less result than you expected. Can you relate?

Many people are familiar with what they want to achieve but they don’t know why they want to achieve it. The clarity is lacking, the purpose is missing and, because of that, many leave their goals.

One thing you will notice in people who achieve great things is that they are purpose-driven. In the worst of the scenarios, they don’t let their goals die and work towards them until they achieve it.

Do you want to be in the same category?

Ask yourself why you selected your goal and think deeply; see how it impacts your life, others life, what will happen if that goal is achieved. The stronger and deep your purpose is stronger possibility of achieving it and I assure you will find your way.

3. Context Based Learning

Context Learning

We all have dreams that we wish we could easily achieve, and the reason why few people are able to do so is simple because it is not so easy.

So, Context Based learning is something we use to achieve our goals and it really works.

Steps 1 – Learn the Concept: If I want to be a singer, can I go to a national competition and win? Not until I learn the basics, how to sing, how to hold breath for a long time. This is crucial and foundation.

Step 2 – Implementation: Learned and not implementation is equal to no results. So what you learn is important to be implemented in your life.

Step 3 – Get feedback from Expert: No matter where you want to go, you need someone to look up to as a role model. If possible, get coaching from them as well; their feedback can be extremely beneficial. You can still succeed without a coach, but it will take more effort and time.

Step 4 – Work on Feedback: The feedback from coaches and learned people should be implemented and observed to see how you approach your goals with success.

4.Track your goals

Track your goals

It is easier to set goals, but until we track them, we can’t be able to monitor our progress and until we monitor, we can’t improve and reaching goals might just remain a dream.

Tracking goals allows you to determine what works and what does not, allowing you to eliminate what does not work and implement what does work, making the journey more enjoyable.

You can track and evaluate your progress at any time to see if you’re still on track or if you need to reassess and make changes. Small improvements in individual metrics add up, allowing you to check off performance goals as you go, eventually leading you to your end goal.
